HISTORY

Do you know this man? Older users who were into NBA in the early Nineties do for sure. His name is Bobby Hurley and in 1993 he was picked by Sacramento Kings with number 7 in NBA draft. Experts were considering him as the future star of the league, but at the beginning of his first season was involved in a severe car accident. He struggled to come back to the league but after only 4 years he announced his retirement.
Why the hell the forgotten b-ball player is even mentioned in the article about running shoes? Unwittingly he has become the main person behind the AMP project.
In 1993 Footlocker was manufacturing its own shoes called ITZ (In The Zone). Since the beginning the brand was heavily endorsed by Bobby Hurley. He appeared in the 1993 commercial of the ITZ basketball shoe which was using 'sky sole' technology, the predecessor of Nike's Tuned Air.

After Hurley's accident future development of ITZ has been questioned. Footlocker asked Nike for help in designing a shoe using the redesigned 'sky sole' exclusively for the store chain (however particular colourways were available in other shops such as Foot Action or Champs).
